Practicing 2d Drafting Techniques using Rhino2d

Starting from a printed copy of a plan or section, students will use their scales to measure and redraw the drawing using Rhino2d. The drawing should be properly measured and detailed according to the final required scale. Lineweights and minimal notations should be added in Illustrator and printed to PDF for digital submission.

High Pass
The final drawing has sufficient detail and is correctly measured, rescaled and drawn according to the proper lineweights.
Pass
The final drawing has insufficient detail but is correctly measured, rescaled and drawn according to proper lineweights. Small mistakes (corners not meeting properly, some lines are missing) have been made.
Low Pass
Drawing is incorrectly measured or scaled. A variety of drawing mistakes have been made making the drawing look messy or unfinished.
Fail
Drawing is incorrectly measured or scaled. A variety of drawing mistakes have been made making the drawing look messy or unfinished. Lineweights have not been properly added to the drawing causing the drawing to be difficult to read.

Students will be provided with a printed copy of the Barcelona Pavilion at 1' = 1/16". Students should use an architect's scale to measure the drawing and re-draw the plan using Rhino2d. Sufficient detail should be redrawn or added according to the scale of the final drawing submission, 1' = 1/8". See examples here . Work should be exported to Illustrator and adjusted for proper lineweights and minimal annotations.

Files should be submitted in hard copy, printed with the original template (from Exercise 1), 17 x 22 landscape format. Feel free to print on two separate 11x17 sheets of paper and tape them together. Copies can be handed in during the beginning of studio, 2pm Monday. GSIs will stop by studio to collect the work.

Note: This assignment is not intended to take more than one hour. Furniture and floor patterns can be omitted if you are running out of time, as long as the rest of the drawing is properly represented.
